Recycling and Garbage Pickup
"RESIDENTIAL" HEAVY REFUSE/GARBAGE DETAILS
Garbage and Recyclables are picked up curbside Tuesday through Friday by Veolia.
Holiday pickup delay: Garbage pickup following a holiday
is a day later than your normal pickup day --
Tues. will be Wed., Wed. will be Thurs., etc.
Contact the Clerk's office for curbside pickup schedule and instructions if you are a new city resident.
HEAVY REFUSE: collected weekly on the same day as all garbage and recyclables.
Heavy refuse includes: metals, plaster, plaster board, pots, earthenware, furniture, doors, appliances (other than refrigeration equipment). Plywood, pieces of carpeting (rolled and tied), and painted or treated wood should be no more than 4 ft. long nor more than 50 pounds.
Garbage, recyclables and heavy refuse is to be placed at the curb weekly, no sooner than 3:00 p.m. the preceding day of collection, and no later than 7:00 a.m. the day of collection.
VEOLIA and the DPW reserves the right to refuse excessive amounts of heavy refuse and garbage placed at the curb.
REFRIGERATION EQUIPMENT: Appliances containing CFC(chlorofluorocarbon) and HCFC (hydrochlorofluorocarbon) including refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers or air conditioners will be collected separately by appointment only by calling Veolia at 920-458-6030. They do charge.
COMPOST SITE: grass clippings, garden foliage, leaves, clean wood (untreated, unpainted), brush, soil, brick, building stone, concrete, reinforced concrete, broken pavement and asphalt cannot be put at curb, but can be dropped off in the designated areas at the City's compost site at the DPW Complex located at 111 Hamann Drive. The City does not allow garbage/trash at the Compost site.
DRAIN OIL will not be picked up, but can be disposed of in the designated tank at the DPW complex.
BATTERIES can be taken to the designated area at the DPW Complex.
Contractors are not allowed to dump at the Compost site, unless permitted by the DPW -- 920-467-7901, ext. 301. A fee will be charged.
PAINT, TOXIC, CAUSTIC AND FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS will not be picked up nor accepted. Household Hazardous Waste collection sites are available through the Sheboygan County Planning & Resources Dept. for the above items while County funds last. Call 920-459-3060 for next availability and sites for the current year.
TIRES CAN BE TAKEN TO VEOLIA AT 2905 PAINE AVENUE, SHEBOYGAN, WI -- THERE IS A CHARGE.
RECYCLING PROGRAM
The City of Sheboygan Falls uses the "Single Stream" Recycling Program. Put ALL your recyclable items together in the BLUE recycling bag. All of your glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles, aluminum cans, tin cans, newspapers, magazines, junk mail, broken down cardboard can be mixed together in a single blue recycling bag. All trash must still be kept separate and placed in a CLEAR bag. Do not mix trash and recycling items together in the same bag.
